Coming to school
- Children should arrive at school between 8.45 a.m. and 8.55 a.m. They should not arrive beforehand as the school cannot accept responsibility for their care on site before 8.45 a.m.
- Entrance doors will be opened at 8.45 a.m. and children should go to their classrooms. The Class teacher provides activities until registration at 8.55a.m.
- Children may cycle to school. Cycling proficiency courses are arranged annually for the Year 5 pupils. In the interests of safety all cyclists should dismount and walk up the school drive. Bicycles can be stored in the shelter at the front of the school.
Please inform the school office if, for any reason, your child is not coming to school. In the interests of safety, the secretary will ring to check on absence if we do not receive information. A written explanation is also required when your child returns; a pro-forma is available in the office for your convenience. Absences cannot be authorised without a written explanation. The school is obliged to record the number of authorised and unauthorised absences each year. Absences are authorised according to criteria following a written explanation. Holidays are not authorised during term time.
Normally it will be assumed that a child who is fit enough to come to school is fit enough to play outside during break and at lunchtime. In exceptional cases, e.g. asthma or physical injury, arrangements will be made for a child to be supervised inside during playtime. Please apply to the child’s teacher for permission in these circumstances.
